Growing Regions

NewStar's wide range of field locations yields a better product. It's that simple. That's because we only plant in the soils and climates that are best suited to growing produce of the highest quality, and where the water supply is both plentiful and of good quality.

Our growing seasons take advantage of the best weather in each of these regions, generally moving south as the summer changes to fall, and north once again, with the onset of spring.

Salinas and San Joaquin Valleys, California
Two of the richest growing regions in the world, over the course of spring and summer this fertile ground is where NewStar grows some of the finest spinach, lettuce, cauliflower and asparagus you'll ever taste.

Oxnard, California
Oxnard's cool coastal climate is perfect for growing NewStar's crisp, delicious celery.

Yuma, Arizona
Yuma warm winters yield a bumper crop of spinach, lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower, as well as a wide variety of other commodities that fill out NewStar's complete line of fresh produce.

Mexicali, Mexico
Like Yuma, Mexicali has beautiful fall and winter weather. Here, we grow green onions, cilantro, parsley, green kale, radishes, leeks, and asparagus, typically from October into early May.

Ojos Negros Region, Baja California, Mexico
In Ojos Negros NewStar has built a modern facility designed to ensure that our green onions are of the highest quality available. Our season here runs from May through October.

Ensenada Region, Baja California, Mexico
To provide our customers with superior quality on a year-round basis, NewStar grows asparagus here, from July through October.
