EXECUTIVE TEAM
Anthony Vasquez
As President and CEO, Anthony Vasquez is responsible for day-to-day leadership and general management of NewStar Fresh Foods, focusing on long-term strategic planning, overall vision and accountability. After more than a decade in leadership roles for NewStar, Mr. Vasquez acquired the company in 2016. He brings over 22 years of experience in agriculture, with a focus on grower relations, management, and direct sales.
Carl Wiseman
As CFO, Carl Wiseman, leads NewStar Fresh Foods Finance and Technology Teams. Mr. Wiseman is a visionary Chief Financial Officer with a portfolio that represents more than 20 years of success, leading start-up operations and high-growth companies to increased market share and bottom line profitability. Previously, Mr. Wiseman was CFO, COO, and founder of NovoSensus, Inc., and CFO, CEO, and founder of Magic Screen 3D, Inc.
Shawn Shevlin
As COO, Shawn Shevlin, is responsible for day-to-day operations, managing teams throughout the US and Mexico. Mr. Shevlin rejoined Newstar Fresh Foods in 2016 after spending 5 years living in Mexico where he co-founded and developed organic ranching and export operations. He has a background in finance, and previously held director and senior management positions at NewStar, Earthbound Farms, Dole Food Company, CH Robinson / Foodsource and Robert Half.
Mitch Secondo
As Vice President, Mitch Secondo provides leadership for all grower programs and for ensuring NewStar’s international strategies are in alignment. Mr. Secondo was an original founder of the former NewStar Fresh Foods and was previously Managing Director, Vice President (Big Idea Holdings) and CEO. Prior to NewStar he was CFO and Sr. Vice President of Administration and Production at Dole Fruit & Vegetable. Mr. Secondo was an officer in the U.S. Army and spent some time working for NASA. He is active in the Salinas Valley and served as a board member for the Grower-Shipper Association, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, NewStar Fresh Foods, Western Growers Association and Bud Antle Inc.
Greg Zelei

As Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Greg Zelei oversees retail, wholesale and foodservice revenue, long-term growth initiatives, and strategic market positioning for NewStar Fresh Foods. Mr. Zelei brings more than 24 years of experience in agricultural sales, having held senior sales positions at Field Fresh Farms, FoodSource / CH Robinson, and Pro*Act where he spearheaded the creation of two start-up divisions that now operate under the Integrated Fresh Solutions umbrella.
Loui Barriga

As Vice President of Grower Operations, Mr. Barriga oversees the strategic expansion of NewStar’s grower-land base in California, Arizona and Mexico. Formerly Director of Operations, he has more than two decades of experience in grower operations, harvest, and labor management with NewStar Fresh Foods.

Tim Meissner

Mr. Meissner joined NewStar in April of 2015 as regional sales and special projects manager, and his current role is focused on marketing and product development. He has more than 40 years of industry experience, including 21 years at Supervalu, as well as various senior positions with River Ranch, Southern Specialties and Amerifresh. Mr. Meissner brings extensive knowledge in supply chain management to his role at NewStar, with expertise in sales, marketing, procurement and distribution. His background includes stints on both the “buy-side” and “sell-side” of the industry. and he has expertise in both retail and foodservice applications.

Mr. Solis rejoined NewStar Fresh Foods in 2010, bringing extensive experience in sales and customer relations. Previously, he was Director of Inside Sales, overseeing day to day sales team customer interactions. Mr. Solis has 22 years of industry experience in demand management, raw product forecasting, promotional planning, and private brand implementation, with expertise in foodservice and wholesale sales. Prior to joining NewStar, he focused on sales and customer service in management positions at Church Brothers, Salad Time and Tanimura & Antle.

With more than 10 years working at NewStar Fresh Foods, Antonio “Tony” Ojeda oversees the inside sales team and all commodity categories. His background includes supply chain management expertise combined with extensive experience in the green onion, asparagus, herb and specialty commodity categories. A graduate of CalPoly San Luis Obispo, Mr. Ojeda was previously with Tanimura & Antle , Ippolito International and Grower Express.
