NewStar Fresh Foods was founded in 1996 by some of the most highly regarded farmers of the Salinas and Pajaro Valleys. Today, the company has evolved into an industry leader in innovation, and has become North America’s largest shipper of iceless Green Onions. But that’s not all. NewStar produces complimentary ingredient items including Asparagus, Herb Leaf products, Kale, and Radishes.
In 2016 the company was acquired by long-time NewStar executive Anthony Vasquez. Under Anthony’s leadership the company has accelerated its growth, making significant investments in people, technology, facilities and equipment in NewStar’s U.S. and Mexico operations.
Today, those investments have made it possible for NewStar to expand its footprint, as the company continues to collaborate with its customers on developing custom cuts and packs that meet the specific needs of today’s retail, foodservice, food processing, manufacturing, and home meal kit markets. NewStar is also focused on reducing food waste, simplifying the supply-chain, and ensuring consistent portion control. Virtually all of our products employ modified atmosphere technology (MAP) to further extend quality and shelf life — an innovation we pioneered long before it became an industry standard.
NewStar is the only North American grower-shipper that has completely vertically integrated all of its operations in Mexico. This has enabled the company to control every aspect of the supply chain.
